The town of Kellogg is host to 3 trailheads: The Silver Mountain Trailhead, the Kellogg Depot Trailhead, and the Elizabeth Park Trailhead. We’ll focus on the Kellogg Depot Trailhead which is located at mile 53.8 of the trail.

This Trailhead features a long but slightly confusing parking area. Parking stretches along Station Ave on both the east and west sides of Main St. The easiest way to find this trailhead is to use the address for the Silver Valley Chamber of Commerce (10 Station Ave Kellogg, ID). The Silver Valley Chamber of Commerce now occupies the old Kellogg/Wardner Train Depot. This building doubles as the Kellogg Visitors Center. The Visitors Center includes restrooms and a small picnic area.

Travelling eastbound on I-90 from Spokane or Coeur d’Alene, take exit 51 for Division St. Turn right on Division St/Main St. The trailhead is on the corner of Main St. and Station Ave.

Travelling westbound on I-90 from Montana, take exit 51. Turn left on Division St/Main St. The trailhead is on the corner of Main St. and Station Ave.

If you are catching The Cycle Haus Shuttle for this location, we will pull over just a few feet from the trailhead at the corner of Railroad Ave and Division St/Main St.

This trailhead is also next to the CDA Bike Co. This is the final bike shop on the trail before reaching The Cycle Haus in Harrison.

Fun Fact about Kellogg

In 1885 Noah Kellogg's donkey Bill the Burrow alerted the prospector to an outcropping of galena, a lead ore that often contains silver. This outcropping eventually became the Bunker Hill Mine and led to the founding of Kellogg. Thus was born Kellogg's Motto: "Founded by a jackass and inhabited by his descendants." The now famous Silver Mountain Resort was named the Jackass Ski Bowl until 1973.
